Obviously bought when the ship called in Tasmania, this card from Henry Hingston to his son Howard at 31 Manchester St, Barrow in Furness, England reads as follows:
"Christchurch New Zealand. January 12th 1904. Mail leaving today, so cannot find time for a letter except to mother. Came here Jany 8th. Am very well & weather is charming. Mr D came to meet me at Wellington. Wasn't it good of him. Hope you are quite well. Dear love. Ever affectionately yours. H Hingston.
Hope Francis is now well. My love to her. Please send me a letter by [?] Friscoe mail. Adieu."
