A well preserved stone of slate, 3ft 9in high, 2ft 4in  wide. South of church. To the left of the path, obscured by another stone in front1:

This Stone Records
the Spot
where rests the Mortal remains of
ANDREW HINGSTON
who departed this life May ye 25
1802
in the 57 year of his Age.

Here rests ye Sacred dust of one whose name
Was by his virtues honoured & well known,
A Father whose whole life was one great aim
To make his Children's virtues like his own.
Father, Farewel, in peaceful slumber rest
Secure of thy reward among ye blest.
Thy greatest treasure in thy life we see
And rich and blest are they that follow thee.

who departed this life the 15th
of June 1825 in the 82nd year of his age.

He when guardian was faithful to his trust,
And the fatherless have frequently experienced
His attention to their wants,
Which fully demonstrate the benevolence of his heart.
